Forest Data Center
A large amount of geo-reference data has been collected and analyzed in the institutes of the vTI in the sectors of agriculture and forestry as well as fishery. To manage this data simply and in a standardized manner across sectors, the Forest Data Center has created a modern Geo-Data Infrastructure for the vTI.
The GDI shall, over the long term, provide standardized access to all data sources of the vTI and thus the prerequisites for the integrated evaluation of the data from different projects.
The goal here is data quality, currency and documentation between the different sites of the vTI.
In addition a system will be created to provide the international research partners of the vTI and the general public with transparent, unified access to data from the vTI and the requirements of the EU guideline INSPIRE (EP 2007/2/EG) to fulfil the obligation to make geo data available for European use beyond country borders.
