Institute of Forest Based Sector Economics

Today society puts lot of pressure on forests. Forests shall generate an income to their owners; forests shall provide renewable raw materials and bio-energy as well as help to mitigate global warming; forests shall be a place for nature conservation and fulfil our needs for recreation; forests shall provide pure drinking water and clean air without being damaged. Forests shall do this in a sustainable way, today and in the future.

How is it possible to bring in line ecological, economical and social sustainability targets? Where do conflicting goals and uses appear? How is it possible to assess sustainability? It is our goal in the Institute for Forest Sector Economics to answer these questions.
